Manchester City are presumably preparing to begin negotiations with Fabian Delph over a new contract.
Fabian Delph, the man who apparently is everywhere when in need, be it central midfield or the defensive duties – has only eighteen months remaining on his current deal at the Etihad and has proven to be an acute piece of Pep Guardiola’s pie in recent times.
If reports by the Sun are to be believed, City are likely to strike a new £80,000-a-week deal in an attempt to persuade the 29-year-old to stay. A source close to Manchester City is quoted saying: “Delph is a popular member of the squad. He gets on with everyone and the boss absolutely loves him.
“His attitude is top notch. The club want to give him an extension but if he wants to go out and play more football they’ll let him go
There’s been enquires over him already on loan, but he won’t be allowed to leave this window and it will be looked at in the summer if not.”
Delph has been molded into a middling left-back by Pep Guardiola in an attempt to keep him as a part of the team after starting his City career as a central midfielder.
Fabian Delph made 29 appearance for City last season in all competition proving to be a key part of City’s defence while first choice left-back Benjamin Mendy was recovering from a serious knee injury. The England international has already made 17 appearances for the Sky Blues this season despite losing his place to Danilo lately.
Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of Delph due to his positive mentality and work ethics.
Should he opt for a move away from Manchester in search of consistent game time, Manchester City would look to bring in another British lad to help them meet Premier Leagues home grown talent quota.
Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell has been heavily linked with a move to Etihad next summer.
