Last night, England U-21 squad lost to France U-21. The English were always on the back foot yet somehow managed to give only two goals in a game where they could have lost with 5. The lone standout of the game for England was 19-year-old young gun from Manchester.
Phil Foden took the social media on his shoulders after scoring a goal with his exemplary piece of footwork. The youngster skinned and beamed past half-the squad of France before netting the ball into bottom right corner with his left foot. The goalkeeper was stunned, his team mates shunned but if it was any who enjoyed the goal, it was the English squad.
The 19-year-old sneaked the ball past Paul Bernadoni after cheating through five opponents and then coolly dancing past three with ease.
The Manchester City striker looked a different self, confident with ball under his foot(which he mostly does), extrovert-ish and selfishly unselfish in taking the ball all by himself only to score the goal for his team.
Have a look at this piece of brilliance.
The social media was all buzzed with Foden’s lauds. Here’s a few too lit to read:
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said: “Outstanding that from Phil Foden.”
Gavan Holohan said: “The future of English football is bright… And I’m just talking about Phil Foden what an unbelievable talent.”
Josh Williams beamed: “I’d pick Phil Foden over all the midfielders in the national English squad, what a talent.”
John Edwards added: “Phil Foden isn’t going to be a top player! I think he already IS a top player! Glad he’s English, sad he’s on the blue side of Manchester.”
HE ALREADY IS A TOP PLAYER. That’s a lot told already. If I could describe him any better. The youngster has given a beam of contentment that Manchester City are in right hands and have a bright future.
