Manchester United have emerged as one of the front runners to make a shock move on rivals Man City for attacker Leroy Sane, according to bookies Ladbrokes.
The 22-year-old had an impressive 2017/18 season, helping Manchester City clinch Premier League title comfortably. The PFA young player of the year was one of the shining stars last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting 19 in all competitions.
Despite establishing himself as a key player Sane was left out from Germany’s World Cup squad followed by finding it hard to break in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side since arrival of record signing Riyad Mahrez.
“Sane’s struggling for game time at City and while two European giants head the betting for his signature, the latest odds suggest there’s every chance he won’t have to travel very far at all for his next club,” Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said.
The German international has three years left on his current contract at Etihad, and City are keen to see him extend his stay at the Etihad beyond the summer of 2021.
German giant Bayern Munich and Italian giant Juventus are listed as joint 3/1 favourites to secure a deal, while City rivals United are not far behind, with bookies currently offering odds of 7/2 as the club most likely to make a move.
Borussia Dortmund are next, priced at 4/1, followed by English clubs Arsenal and Liverpool.
