As per CaughtOffside, Manchester City are plotting to step up their pursuit of La Liga youngsters Williot Swedberg and Alberto Moleiro next summer amid intense competition from top European clubs.

The Citizens have shown interest in several La Liga stars since their Arab owners took charge in 2008. World-class players like Sergio Aguero, David Silva, and Yaya Toure have contributed immensely to the club’s success.

Similarly, signing Ballon d’Or winner Rodri from Atletico Madrid proved to be another masterstroke of a deal. The defensive midfielder has now become a pivotal figure in Man City’s title-winning spree.

They have set their sights on two talented footballers who are making a name for themselves in Spain’s highest division.

Manchester City eye Swedberg and Moleiro

Swedberg has been a consistent performer for Celtic Vigo since joining the club in 2022. He has accumulated seven goals and delivered four assists in 39 games across all competitions. The 21-year-old can slot in as a left-winger or a central midfielder.

Pep Guardiola will be attracted by the Swedish player’s versatility, and signing him will solve his team’s injury woes to some extent.

Similarly, Moleiro has played a key role for Las Palmas’ senior side after graduating from their academy in 2021. In 124 games, he has scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists.

The attacking midfielder’s touch was dubbed as “silky” by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig last year. He could act as a cover for Kevin de Bruyne, who is nearing the end of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Both players have a very interesting profile, but Man City won’t face a straightforward road in this transfer race. Premier League clubs like Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are also in the mix. Other European outfits like Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Villarreal, Inter Milan, and AS Roma are also linked with a move.

Hence, they need to be quick or else risk losing their targets to some of their closest rivals. We don’t expect Man City to jump ahead immediately, but early talks could trigger a future move.
