Another Carabao Cup final for Manchester City at Wembley. The Cityzens are seeking a fourth consecutive trophy under Pep Guardiola. Despite the desire to secure another crown, a number of key players will be rested for the Champions League semi-final clash with PSG on Wednesday.
A closer look at how Man City could lineup against Tottenham Hotspur later today:
GOALKEEPER – ZACK STEFFEN
Despite ensuring a torrid game against Chelsea last weekend at Wembley, it is expected that the American will be given the chance to make amends in an even bigger tie against Spurs.
DEFENDERS- WALKER, LAPORTE, AKE, MENDY
Rubén Dias is expected to be rested for this game and with the rejuvenated John Stones suspended it is expected that Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Aké will play as center-backs. This will be the first time the two left-footed defenders feature in the same starting XI. Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy are expected to be the lateral defenders with the former coming up against Tottenham.
MIDFIELDERS- FERNANDINHO, GÜNDOGAN, BERNARDO
Midfield rotation is largely expected with the returning Kevin De Bruyne rested for this game. Fernandinho is likely to start again at Wembley in the holding role with Gündogan and Bernardo Silva providing the creative spark.
ATTACKERS- JESUS, TORRES, MAHREZ
With an eye on the Champions League, Pep Guardiola will give the nod to Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres and Riyad Mahrez as they seek to pick up their first trophy of the season. All three players know that a strong performance at Wembley puts them in contention for a starting berth against Paris Saint Germain.
Man City predicted XI vs Tottenham: Steffen, Walker, Laporte, Aké, Mendy, Fernandinho, Gündogan, Silva, Jesus, Torres, Mahrez.
