Manchester City have officially confirmed the loan move of Maximo Perrone to newly promoted Serie A side Como.
The 21-year-old will join Cesc Fabregas’ side on a one-year loan deal. Additionally, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that there would be no buy option included for the Italian side, suggesting that Pep Guardiola sees potential in the Argentine to be involved with the first team in the future.

The midfielder is an academy graduate of Velez Sarsfield and was signed by Man City in January 2023 for a reported transfer fee of £8 million. Perrone made his first team debut for The Cityzens in the next month, coming on as a substitute in a 4-1 victory at Bournemouth.
A well-rounded midfielder
To further his development, Perrone was loaned out to La Liga side Las Palmas for the 2023-24 season. During his time in Spain, the Argentine youth international gained valuable first-team experience, making 29 appearances in the top flight. Perrone impressed with his all-around abilities, boasting a pass accuracy of over 90% and averaging 2.2 tackles and interceptions per game.
Guardiola also utilised Perrone extensively during City’s preseason tour in the United States. The midfielder featured in all four of the club’s games, starting in one and coming on as a substitute in the others. Notably, he scored a fine goal against Celtic in a thrilling 4-3 defeat.

With Manchester City having plenty of options in central midfield, the decision was made to send Perrone out on loan to continue his development in Serie A. Upon his arrival at Como, head coach Cesc Fabregas expressed his excitement about the new signing: “It’s exciting to have such a versatile player as Perrone join us. His recent preseason performance demonstrated his link-up play and creativity in the midfield.”
Perrone himself shared his enthusiasm for the move to Como: “I’m very happy to be here in this club and this city. I’m really looking forward to starting playing. I think it’s a step that I need in my career to keep growing. The idea of the coach suits me, and I like the style of play. It’s also a very interesting club, with a quality squad, and that’s why I decided to come here.”
