Pep Guardiola (on World Cup players’ late return): “We have to adapt – we knew it.
“It is what it is. Every manager would prefer to have all of the players back for the first game. Most of our players have had just six training sessions.
“We will see what our level is. Today is a final and we must play like we are in a final. Always, when you play against giants – big teams – you can show your position and what is your style; your way.”
On Benjamin Mendy: “Last season, he played just a few games at the start.
“Now, he has come back from the World Cup and Fabian Delph is not ready. It is good for him to start – to play and get confidence, to correct his mistakes and be involved.”
