Manchester City is set to tour the United States of America for their pre-season preparation ahead of the 2024/25 English Premier League season. This marks the second consecutive year that the Citizens have ventured abroad for their pre-season friendlies, following last year’s visit to South Korea and Japan.
Man City will play four games over ten days in the FC Series, a pre-season competition previously known as the Florida Cup. This tour will provide Pep Guardiola’s squad with the opportunity to regain match sharpness as they aim to secure the Premier League title for a record-extending fifth consecutive time.
The FC Series campaign begins on July 23 with a match against Scottish Premiership champions Celtic in North Carolina. Four days later, City will face AC Milan at Yankee Stadium in New York.
On July 30, Guardiola will reunite with his former club, FC Barcelona, in Orlando. This match promises to be an exciting encounter between two of Europe’s elite clubs. The tour concludes on August 3 in Ohio Stadium, Columbus, where City will take on Chelsea. This game will be particularly noteworthy as Guardiola faces his former assistant, Enzo Maresca, who recently became Chelsea’s manager after a successful campaign with EFL Championship winners Leicester City.
Manchester City’s pre-season training will commence in Manchester on July 15 before they depart for North America four days later. Due to the ongoing UEFA Euros and Copa America, several key players, including Rodri, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva, are expected to join the squad later and receive extended breaks.
Although City has not officially signed any new players this summer, journalist Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Savio is now a Manchester City player, having signed from Troyes. Guardiola will likely want the young Brazilian winger to participate in the pre-season to acclimatize to the team’s style and tactics. The club is expected to wait for potential first-team departures before making additional signings.
