Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that he held no talks with any other suitors this 2024 summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old garnered huge attention from the fan base when he talked about a potential move to a Saudi Pro League club in June. The Middle Eastern outfits have earmarked the Belgian ace as their top target, and he couldn’t resist the lure of the cash-rich league.

However, manager Pep Guardiola rejected claims of a possible move for the star midfielder. And now, De Bruyne has himself revealed that he had a quiet summer with no transfer talks with any would-be buyers.

While speaking to BBC Radio, he said: “I haven’t spoken to anyone, to be honest. There has been a lot of noises and news. I said in the summer I expect a quiet summer and that’s actually what happened. I’ve been on holiday for four weeks, came back and started training. That was it. Nothing to tell. I’ve not been entertained by anybody or spoken to anybody.”

The Man City captain caused a stir when he was seen talking to Michael Emenalo, the sporting director of the Saudi Pro League during the Euros 2024 campaign. Many believed that he had set his sights on a move to Asia amid an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium. But the player later revealed that Emenalo is his close friend, and they weren’t talking about a transfer. Kevin De Bruyne’s contract will expire next year, the same as that of manager Pep Guardiola.

The midfield maestro is only focused on winning titles with Manchester City this season. The former Wolfsburg star can single-handedly change the course of any game.

He has been named the club’s Player of the Season for a record four times. The veteran has also won the Premier League Player of the Season Award twice.

He is a modern-day superstar, and the fans would want him to continue playing for Manchester City for a few more years. Although De Bruyne was struggling with injuries last season, he has come out strong.

Pep Guardiola eased him into the team during the Community Shield match against Man United before letting him captain the team for all three PL games. His presence is vital for the club if they want to win their seventh league trophy and aim for the Champions League title again.

Manchester City can learn a thing or two from Real Madrid when it comes to holding their senior star players. Luka Modric is still performing at top level, and Toni Kroos retired last season.

However, they can’t come in the way of Kevin De Bruyne if he desires a transfer next summer. Without any doubt, he is a once in a generation talent for the men in blue.
