Kayky set to leave on loan

Manchester City winger Kayky Chagas is set to leave the club on loan for the upcoming season, with multiple clubs interested in his services. The 21-year-old, who has been contracted to the Citizens for three years, has made only three appearances for the club. With the recent arrival of Savio, Kayky’s chances of first-team football have become even slimmer. Pep Guardiola believes that regular game time elsewhere will be more beneficial for the young Brazilian’s development.

According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, the decision for Kayky to be loaned out has been confirmed. The Brazilian winger will join either Sparta Rotterdam or Shakhtar Donetsk, the two clubs that have shown the most interest in signing the youngster. Kayky should prioritize the clubs based on the playing time they promise. A strong showing out on loan this season could give him a chance to feature for the City first team next year.

Kayky graduated from the Fluminense academy and made his senior debut for the Brazilian side. His impressive showings in Brazil convinced Man City to sign him for an approximate total package of €15 million. The winger played with City’s under-23 team in the Premier League 2, scoring seven goals and assisting four in 14 appearances.

The youngster made his club debut in January, coming on as a substitute in a 4-1 victory away at Swindon Town in the FA Cup. Kayky proceeded to make his Premier League debut the following month, coming on for Riyad Mahrez in an away victory against Norwich City.

Kayky had loan stints with Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira and Bahia, who play in the Brazilian Serie A. Both loans weren’t as successful as the winger would have hoped, as he failed to make more than six starts for either team. His loan spell with Bahia was cut short due to an injury.

Despite these setbacks, the right winger is known for his fabulous dribbling and immense potential. Kayky’s career has stalled slightly lately, and this loan move is an excellent opportunity for the youngster to show his talent and reignite his progression.
