According to HITC, Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland is ready to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the Emirates. He is ready to commit his long-term future, but only if the English champions insert a release clause in the deal.

The Citizens would love to keep the 24-year-old, who is breaking records for fun. His current contract ends in 2025, and any interested club can sign him for £150 million. Real Madrid and Barcelona were heavily linked with the player since the past two seasons.

Hence, securing the Norwegian star’s future is the top priority for manager Pep Guardiola. As per Spanish outlet MARCA, Haaland will be in contention to surpass Kevin de Bruyne as the club’s highest-earning player. The new deal could see him pocket £20.5m net per season.

The striker was asked about his future commitments last season, and he said:

I’m really happy. Especially with the people that I’m surrounded with; the manager, the directors, the board, they are a group of amazing people and I’m really happy, I have to say.”

If I say this now it’s probably going to be a massive headline, tomorrow you never know what the future brings, but I’m happy. You can write this but you also have to write everything I said before. I’m happy.

Haaland has enjoyed extraordinary success since moving to Man City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 for a fee of around £51.2m. An absolute steal and one of their best signings.

He is a world-class finisher, links up perfectly with the midfielders, and finds the net consistently. In just two seasons, the 24-year-old scored 97 goals in 102 games across all competitions. Haaland scored 52 goals in the 2022–23 season, followed by 38 goals last season.

The former Bundesliga ace has already scored seven goals in just four matches this season (two hat tricks in three PL games). Last month, he broke Andy Cole’s record by becoming the quickest to reach 50 PL goals (48 appearances).

SkySports pundit Stephan Warnock believes that the forward will ‘hammer Alan Shearer’s record’ if he continues to score at this rate.

He is reaching ridiculous numbers while playing in the toughest league in the world. Man City know that the Scandinavian ace can help them lift a lot of trophies in the years to come.

Hence, it will be in the best interest of both parties to sign a new contract in the upcoming months.
