Manchester City midfielder David Silva explains his recent absence by releasing a statement.
In his statement David Silva revealed the personal reasons that kept him missed four City games across all competitions during the month of December.
“I don’t know,” admitted Guardiola, when asked when Silva will be back.
“When he is ready, he will come back. But his personal life is always more important than any other situation.
“So, when he comes back it’s because he’s ready, welcome. That is what we have to do.”
David Silva thanked his Manchester City colleagues for their continued support over recent weeks after his son was “born extremely preterm”.
“I want to thank all of you for the love and good wishes received in the last few weeks,” Silva said in a statement on his official Twitter account.
“Special thanks to my teammates, the manager and all at the club for understanding my situation.
“Also I want to share with you the birth of my son Mateo, who was born extremely preterm and is fighting day by day with the help of the medical team.”

The Blues manager Pep Guardiola said after the Watford win that, “Family is most important. You can see how essential David is to us but I don’t know how long he will be here.”
“He is free to go [home] again if he needs to. It doesn’t matter if we get no points while he is away. Family is most important.”
David Silva has received support from his former club Valencia: “Everyone at Valencia hopes that little Mateo is soon at home with his father.”
