Dani Carvajal urges Rodri to join Real Madrid

Rodri-Real-Madrid

Real Madrid fullback Dani Carvajal has revealed that he has been trying to convince Manchester City star Rodri to make the switch to Spain and don the famous whites of Los Blancos. Both players are currently on international duty with Spain at the 2024 UEFA Euros, preparing to face England in the tournament finale.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano shared a translated snippet of Carvajal’s interview with Tiempo de Juego. “I tell Rodri every day to sign for Real Madrid. I tell him every day to leave Manchester, that there is no sun there, and to come to Madrid because we need him,” said the right back.

Rodri reportedly made it clear that he is contracted with City, but Carvajal seems unfazed, stating, “He tells me he has a contract… but he would be perfect for us.” While the chances of Rodri moving to Real Madrid are practically nil, losing the holding midfielder would be a huge blow to the Citizens.

The Spanish midfield general is arguably the best player in Man City and possibly in the Premier League. Earlier this year, City boss Pep Guardiola claimed that Rodri was the “best midfielder in the world” by far, stating, “He’s an unbelievable player. He’s the best midfield player in the current world by far. It’s because he’s able to do everything. So the tempo he has, especially his character when the situation is going wrong, he steps forward to arrive to the box, go backwards, the ability to play short and long. He’s always ready.”

Rodri has been crucial for City’s recent success. The midfielder has made 257 appearances for the Citizens, scoring 26 goals, many of them in decisive matches. The Spaniard is currently under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, and it is likely that the club will be looking to offer him a contract extension soon.

Fortunately for City fans, the midfielder seems happy in Manchester, recently stating, “I’m very, very happy in England. I think I’m at one of the best clubs in the world, it’s obvious, and I’m happy. I have a three-year deal and, when the time comes, I will see…”
