Manchester City players will wear a new special kit against Inter Milan on match day one of the Champions League. The reigning English champions won’t be wearing the traditional blue jersey, nor will they dawn the white and black away strip. They won’t be using the burgundy third kit as well. They will debut a new kit [Definitely City] — a cream and light blue shade finished with a pink hue. The jersey is designed by Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher, a huge City fan.

By showcasing the new shirt, the Premier League giants will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the English band’s ‘Definitely Maybe’ album. The kit is designed by the artist after a special request from PUMA.

The jersey is mostly cream-base with a light blue sleeve, collar, and side of the shirt. A pink border on the sleeve and around the badge. While describing the jersey, Gallagher said (as quoted by the Mirror): “It’s a proper honour. When PUMA approached us at one of the games about designing a kit it took about five seconds to agree to it.”

It’s the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe: it’s unique, but it’s definitely striking, and I think it looks great. When you see people representing your club, it’s important that they look good. Definitely Maybe has never lost its magic to me, I just think it’s an amazing snapshot of what we were about.”

The fans will hope that this jersey proves to be a lucky charm for them as they face Inter. Both sides clashed during the finals of the 2022/23 UCL season, with Man City emerging champions.

The commemorative shirt won’t be worn in the Premier League. It will only be used for selected away games in European competitions.
