An overview of the Manchester City players representing their countries at the 2024 UEFA Euros.
Group A
Switzerland vs Hungary (3-1)
Manuel Akanji: A solid performance defensively and effective in passing, contributing to Switzerland’s opening victory.
Group B
Spain vs Croatia (3-0)
Rodrigo: A tough outing, as he gave away a penalty and was fortunate to escape with only a yellow card. Substituted late due to a muscle problem.
Mateo Kovacic: One of Croatia’s better performers, displaying good dribbling but lacking the final product. Substituted at the hour mark.
Josko Gvardiol: Drove the ball forward well but left significant space behind him, which Spain exploited. A disappointing performance overall.
Group C
England vs Serbia (1-0)
Kyle Walker: Outstanding throughout the game. Solid defensively and provided plenty going forward, playing a key role in Jude Bellingham’s goal and almost scoring himself.
John Stones: Delivered a good performance but showed some rust due to his recent lack of game time.
Phil Foden: A subpar performance by his standards. Struggled to influence the game, having just one touch in the opposition box, and frequently lost possession.
Group D
Netherlands vs Poland (2-1)
Nathan Ake: Excellent performance from the City centre-back. Playing as an inverted full-back on the left, he was strong in defense and assisted both Dutch goals.
Group E
Belgium vs Slovakia (0-1)
Jeremy Doku: Had a challenging game. Made several good dribbles but lacked the end product in the final third. His error led to Slovakia’s only goal.
Kevin De Bruyne: The best Belgian player on the pitch, De Bruyne was at his creative best. He made four key passes and created a big chance that Romelu Lukaku failed to convert. Ultimately let down by his teammates in a disappointing defeat for Belgium.
Group F
Portugal vs Czech Republic (2-1)
Ruben Dias: Largely untested by the Czech Republic attack. Was tidy in possession and delivered a fantastic cross for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bernardo Silva: Had a lot of the ball and frequently drove forward. However, his end product was missing.
Joao Cancelo: Like Dias, had little defensive work to do. Moved into central positions to try and influence the play more, but apart from one excellent ball to Bernardo, was fairly quiet.
