Jeremy Doku has been the find of this season for Manchester City, but this development has also raised concerns for Kevin De Bruyne. The 21-year-old has adapted to the Premier League at the quickest possible pace helping Man City get over the loss of KDB in no time.
Despite missing their top player, City has performed exceptionally well, with the former Rennes midfielder seamlessly integrating into Pep Guardiola’s system.
However, De Bruyne’s recurring injury worries are the primary reason City would avoid his contract extension. While the Belgian superstar is undoubtedly invaluable, his susceptibility to injuries has triggered financial concerns for Manchester City.

That’s according to Football Insider, who claims that “there are concerns about the increasing number of injury problems De Bruyne is suffering in recent seasons.”
De Bruyne’s current deal expires in 2026, that is when he will turn 34. The midfielder is currently highest highest-paid player in the Premier League and to keep this tag intact till 2026 will not be an easy task for his legs.
