Pep Guardiola & Co. will host Real Madrid in the Champions League’s second leg on Friday and eyeing the fixture, Madrid defender Raphael Varane warned that clash against Manchester City will be very different for the Spanish champions that what could have been.

It was certainly a first leg at Bernabeau City fans won’t forget for sometime, but the unprecedented global health situation suspended the European elite competitions. The round-of-sixteen clash was originally scheduled for March but was postponed.

And amid City’s lead, Pep has warned about Madrid’s historic strengths in the Champions League as he prepares his side for Friday. Agreeing with Guardiola, Varane added that Real Madrid’s form off late will prove differential alongside playing away at City without any fans to cheer them on.

“Without fans, it will surely be different. We always want to win, we are Real Madrid. We’re coming off a great streak of wins so you can imagine how much confidence we’ve gained,” Varance speaking with UEFA.

“There are no matches just before, so we have time to prepare for the game. It will really be the best team on the day that goes through.

“We have the experience of major events. So we approach with perhaps a little more serenity, but always the same determination. And above all, we know the pitfalls to avoid. This is a bit of the experience we have over the past few years.”
