Manchester City travel to Old Trafford in a bid to encore their big win at the same stadium in January. Man United, however, will be more confident and complete than they were two months back when they lacked their quality players.
Manchester Derby has always been English Premier League’s betting highlight with the Red devils causing some problems to Pep Guardiola and his sailing City over the years and will hope to complete Premier League double on Sunday.
City on the other hand, will walk at Old Trafford after three successive cup games in three different competition, latest of them being the Carabao Cup triumph over Aston Villa at the weekend.
When and Where?
Date: Sunday, 8 March
Time: 10:00 pm IST
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Official
Mike Dean will overlook the fixture on Sunday as we anticipate another intense derby at the weekend (and hopefully, without a red card). He will be assisted by Darren Cann and Dan Robathan with Anthony Taylor the fourth official. Andre Marriner will be the VAR, assisted by Stephen Child.
Team News
Man United have suffered a huge blow after losing Anthony Martial to a muscular injury during the training. The Frenchman will most likely miss the desired encounter.
Nemanja Matic had a really spiritualised game against Everton and is expected to start alongside Scott Mctominay and Fred in the midfield with Bruno Fernandes obviously working as an attacking midfielder.
However, to keep City quiet, the duo of Harry Maguire and Lindelof will have to be aware of every possible threat they may face from incoming crosses of KDB and through balls too.
As for the visitors, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling are expected to start the attack with Sergio Aguero in the center. The Argentine has been a master of derbies and will be expected to score once again.
The onus will however depend on the defence of Manchester City who have looked feeble with holes in it. The experience of Fernandinho and Kyle Walker will have to take shape if they want to keep Bruno quiet.
Predicted Line-up
Man City Predicted XI: Ederson, Walker, Fernandinho, Otamendi, Mendy, Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling
Man Utd Predicted XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Williams, Matic, McTominay, Fred, Fernandes, Ighalo
Score Prediction
Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City
The Champions have found their winning groove once again and have reiterated their dominance in English football. Manchester City have been the better team in the latest derbies except two of these year.
We, however, cannot discount Manchester United by any means at their own den considering their good run at ‘Theater of Dreams’ this season. A win for United although is highly unlikely.
